Our observation during miting de avance and ITE forum goes like this:
Persons we observed: JOPAL MATTHEW DUMANIG for President (SSG)
DARIN MAE MISAGAL for President (ITE program)
Methods of Speech Delivery:
IMPROMPTU, MEMORIZATION, MANUSCRIPT, EXTEMPORANEOUS
JOPAL MATTHEW DUMANIG:
During the miting de avance Jopal informing the students when was the election. He also persuading. The method of speech he uses is MANUSCRIPT. It is a barrier of Jopal and his audience because Jopal is paying attention to what he is reading and cannot react to the responses of the audience. Occasionally, talks and read effectively when the speaker is particularly gifted and practiced at reading, but most part of manuscript method should left to special circumstances. Jopal must have a lot of experience and usually a bit of training to read a speech effectively, since a speech is read effectively only when it sounds as though it were not being read.
DARIN MAE MISAGAL:
During the the ITE forum Darin is persuading and informing the students. The method of speech she uses is MEMORIZATION. Memorizing a talk word for word is at the opposite extreme of the impromptu method. Some speakers can use this method effectively, but too often it results in a stilted, inflexible presentation, simply because Darin is more concerned with her material than she is with her audience. Unless you are an experienced actress, memorization is absolutely the worst way to present a speech. When you memorize, usually you are committing words and sentences to memory rather than a sequence of ideas.
